ALWAYS TOGETHER / SEMPRE INSIEME

The American Italian Cultural Society Scholarship is an annual award offered in the Joliet area to a worthy student nominated by his/her teachers.  The teachers nominate a senior graduate of the graduating class for consideration of a scholarship in the amount of $6,000 to be used in any recognized Illinois institution of higher learning over a four (4) year period.  ($1,500 per year).

The scholarship committee holds an annual calendar raffle to raise money for the scholarship endowment fund.  Calendars are sold for $10 per calendar.  Raffles are held every day during the month of December.

The Scholarship Committee has selected Bryan Wellner, as the winner of the 2007-2008 scholarship.

Bryan graduated from Minooka Community High School with a 4.20 GPA and was 26th out of 540 in his graduating class. This very talented young man has had many great accomplishments to his name. He was enrolled in all honors level classes, an honor roll student, a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the Spanish Honor Society, a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and an Illinois State Scholar. He was also a starter for the Minooka High School Baseball team all 4 years and received an All-Area Honorable Mention for his baseball abilities.

He will be attending Illinois Wesleyan University where he will be majoring in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. He hopes to then attend Law School and become an attorney. We are very proud of Bryan and wish him luck in his future endeavors. Bryan will receive his scholarship at the Columbus Day Banquet in October.
